New Calling

It has finally happened. After two and a half years of teaching Sunday School, Jordan and I have finally been released. It is a bittersweet calling. All the kids we started with are graduating high school this May, and we have taught all the way down to the new Beehives and Deacons. We have had all the youth in our ward right now (minus a few of the older boys).

I'm sad because I remember some of my Sunday School teachers, and I liked them a lot (hopefully I wasn't too much of a handful back then....) and I hope that all the kids we had liked us too! I just pray that hopefully something that we taught them has made an impact or helped them learn something about the gospel.

Along with getting released comes a new calling. I'm not sure if it's a real calling or our ward just made it up.. haha... but we are the Ward Information Specialist. That means that Jordan and I are now in charge of our ward monthly newsletter, the Sunday programs, and the ward website. The reason we got this calling is because it has to do with writing, designing, a little bit of PR, and being organized. Well Jordan's dad, my father-in-law, is our Bishop. When he thought of who to call to this position, I popped into his head (I designed the ward postcard to invite non-members to church). I guess I should say I am thankful to be able to practice all my skills learned through college, but I am a little overwhelmed. I'm just glad that Jordan and I get to do the calling together.

Our first program is Easter Sunday, hopefully it will look nice!

Along with getting a new calling, Jordan and I were up for new temple recommends. For my non member friends reading, to be able to enter the temple we have to get new recommends every two years, and we have to answer a series of questions (on your honor, but God knows everything... lol) to see if you are worthy.

I always forget the questions, but this last week was a good reminder. I know that I am worthy, but in a way I always feel unworthy. I am but a meer sinning human. It baffels me sometimes that I can enter a place where God dwells on the Earth. So although I am technically worthy, it makes me want to live a better life.

It helps that President Manwearing did my interview. I love him so much. He reminds me of President Hinckley where you just want to snuggle him. Of course, to break the ice he told me that I looked like, "The Little Mermaid." I was wearing a sequined skirt, and of course I have red hair, haha. We also got to chat a little bit, and just getting to know him better was so cool.

So I got thought my temple interview with a snap. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and the atonement. It makes me excited that I know who Christ is and everything that he has done for me personally. I know that the atonement is real and that repentance is our only way to stand spotless before the Lord. I love this church so much. It completes me and my family. I would be so lost without it.

I am so glad to be reminded of all the things I believe in with one (two actually...lol) interviews.

and most importantly....

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-day Saints.

Happy Birthday Jords!

For those of you who don't know, Jordan shares his birthday with St. Patrick's Day! Which was last week, so I am writing this a little late. I've decided it's perfectly ok to write things late because I am a mommy (and I have decided to be sick) and I have a baby (who has also decided to be sick). So this week has been a little crazy in our house.

Anyways...

Jordan and I always like to make the day as special as we can. Basically filling every minute with non-stop fun. This birthday was no exception. We started off our adventures eating lunch at one of Jordan's favorite Chinese fast food, Panda Express, of course! Those of you who don't live in Idaho wouldn't know the life of living without Panda. It was built about a year ago (I think...). But even Hallie loved it. She ate pretty much all of my noodles (I may be exaggerating...haha).

Next we headed to the mall. Although we do get birthday presents, its always fun to pick things out that you have been wanting but might not have said to the present purchaser. Or it was something the present purchaser definitely wanted you present to pick out. Well Jordan had something in mind, and he wasn't leaving without it.... Brand spanking new basketball shoes. I have to admit, they are very pretty. And also, I wasn't hesitant to let him get them because he is playing at least 3 times a week (it only took us 4 years to get back into the grove of pre-marriage activities. haha). Some of the other things included: Heat basketball shorts, some clothes, and some pretty ties. I am a sucker for ties.

After the mall we got back home, dropped off the Hallie girl (Spencer and Hillary were so awesome to offer to watch her). We then headed to Sherlock Homes, in the cheap theater. Too bad Hunger Games is coming out this week, there is pretty much nothing else in the theater. We enjoyed it. I liked it a lot better than the first. We decided we'll probably have to buy it when it comes out on video, and get the 3D version (our new TV is awesome).

After we headed to Jordan's favorite restaurant. Red Robin. Although we were treated horribly the night prior (another story for another time), Jordan can't say no to the Banzai Burger. If you have ever been to Red Robin and haven't tried this one, you are sorely missing out. Of course we got sang to, and ran into Jordan's good friend from high school and his wife, Ryan and Kayli (it was good to see you guys again!).

After we headed home and got Hallie to bed. As noted above we spend every minute celebrating. So after Hallie was in bed, we went cosmic bowling accompanied by Hillary and Spencer. I have to admit the only thing I miss about being pregnant was being a good bowler. I don't know how but it made me awesome. Although I didn't do fantastic, Jordan did pretty well. We were out super late and got home right around midnight.

On Sunday, we had a continuation of celebrating. Jordan's whole family and my brother came over for dinner/cake/ice cream/ presents.

We had such a fun couple days, and are so thankful for family close by to make all this possible! Jordan is now 27... an OLD MAN! But I am so thankful that he is my husband. We are a perfect match. Sometimes in the good ol' life of marriage you forget how much one another means to each other. I am so thankful for fun celebrating days like this, when you get to do all you can to make the other super happy because it's their special day.

Happy Birthday again Jords. I love you so much!!

dog VS tv

Lately Jordan and I have been feeling a little left out. Pretty much everyone we know has a dog, or is getting a dog. And basically for the past four years I have begged and pleaded to Jordan asking if we could get one. We always came to the conclusion that it wasn't the right time and we can get one when we know for sure where we are going to be (permanently).

About a week ago, almost everyone in Jordan's family decided that they were getting dogs. The only couples that don't have one now is Jordan and I, and Jordan's brother Aaron and his wife, Candace. Naturally, we got the bug... again. We started looking online and trying to figure out how much we were going to spend.

We got a pretty nice tax return and with some of the money, we were trying to decide what to do. It came down to this decision.

Dog VS TV.

Which usually, I am all for the dog. I have been begging for four years! But this time around I think I had a good head on my shoulders. I would have to take care of the dog, which is like taking care of a baby. And I am not ready for another baby (not quite yet:] ). So the decision came down to me... which I usually make the decisions anyways (I just let Jordan think he has apart in them, hehe)

and I decided....

TV.

Jordan and I have wanted to buy a big fancy TV since we've been married. We were fortunate enough to get one as a wedding present from my sister and bro in law and parents. But, with all the technological advancements out there, and with my husband having HUGE eyes for anything big and shiny, we decided to get a huge, nice tv.

It came down to two. A Samsung 46" and a Samsung 55". The cost difference was between 4 and 500. But basically the 55 inch one because it had all the bells and whistles, and because like I said before, my husband only has eyes for things that are bigger than his body.

I am glad we made the decision to get the bigger. Eventually, we would have been bummed to not get the cooler tv. I mean it's a smart TV and it is 3D capable, and it's gigantic. If we were going to spend the money, might as well get what we want.

As soon as I gave the ok nod to Jordan, I think it took all his strength to not jump up and down in excitement. He just turned to the salesman and said (with a gigantic grin)- "we'll take this one."

Good thing we bought a new car a couple months ago, because there is no way we would have gotten it home in the Maxima. We barley fit it in the Escape. We had to lay all the seats down, and I had to hold Hallie coming home. haha. What a site to see. We even had an onlooker when we were loading the TV into the car. It was a little strange... but funny just because the box was HUGE.

Let's just say I now have the happiest husband... ever. haha.

The first movie we watch on the TV? Of course.. Taken.

Made him pose for it:) haha.

Old TV

New TV. Notice how this one just sparkles??

8 month baby

I have a 8 month old. Is this for real?? I feel like it was yesterday that I was pregnant. In four short months she will be ONE YEAR OLD. I can't believe it my baby is growing up too fast! It's actually fun though because she is getting mobile and her little personality just shines everywhere we go. I love whenever we go out, without fail, I have at least one person tell me how beautiful Hallie is. They tell me she's got the biggest, brightest eyes they have ever seen; the cutest smile; the chubbiest, cutest, kissable cheeks; and so on.... What's a mom to do!? I am just so proud to be the mommy of Miss Hallie Jane.

So here are a couple of things that she has started doing
(and some in the past week, so I am including them because I am a week late getting this post up!).

Talks

Hallie loves to babble and scream. She does say momma and dadda, but I don't think she quite knows what she is saying yet. Whenever she says momma or dadda, Jordan and I will answer her with a, "yes?" Which she returns with a huge smile and a giggle.

Crawling

She is SOOOO close!!! She gets up on her knees, and even up onto her toes, but she just hasn't quite grasped the concept of moving forward. We can help her, and she will kind of do it. Once she gets it, she'll be cruisin. She pretty much rolls all over the place, and has no trouble moving backwards. She can turn herself to whichever way she wants to go.

On leap day, she went from her tummy to her butt. I was flabbergasted. It hasn't happened since. But it was awesome.

Giggle

The first time Hallie ever let out a giggle was November 6, 2011. I remember specifically because it was the day after the first time she rolled over. She gave a big old laugh because of Cooper (Hillary's Maltese). Over the last couple months, it was so hard to get her to share that infectious giggle. We would try everything in the book. But, this past month she has been sharing that awesome giggle with us. Her most favorite things that make her laugh are:
Dogs- Namely, Cooper. He just gets her going. She just loves dogs. We were at Jordan's aunt's house and their dog was licking her face and it was the funniest laugh I've ever heard.
Singing- I have the Disney movie Pandora station and I'll sing it to her and she goes nuts. She also loves when I sing to Hairspray.
Dancing- I am shameless to say I have shimmied for her, and she thinks it's hilarious. I go nuts in front of her and she just can't contain herself.
"Stupid Dog"- I don't know why this is so funny. One time Cooper was in our apartment (he got into our garbage) and I said, "Geez Cooper you stupid dog!" And that is where it started. Everytime we say "stupid dog" she bursts into giggles. We do it in the dumbest voices, so she's probably just laughing at how dumb we are.
Peek-a-Boo- Hallie doesn't go nuts for the traditional peek-a-boo (you know, hiding behind your hands and popping out) you have to poke out from behind a wall or from behind the couch and disappear entirely. It's hilarious.
Mickey Mouse- the only TV show Hallie will sit and actually watch for about 5-10 minutes. When they dance she thinks it's so funny.

Tooth!

Finally, after 3 month of teething she has a tooth. It is by chance that I caught it on the day the tooth finally popped through...February 22. She was being a little fussy (acting a little different than usual), and I thought to myself, maybe she finally is getting a tooth? I ran my fingers over the bottom of her gums, and sure enough, there it was!! It had just barely came through. You couldn't even really see it. I haven't even really seen it since because she won't let me look at it.

Kisses

Hallie has started giving kisses on command. Pretty much all you have to do is say "gimmie kisses!" And she will lean in and give you kisses. She hasn't done it to people she doesn't know well, but her cousins, aunts, grandma, she will totally do it. Sometimes she will just be in a lovey mood and just keep giving me kisses. She grabs my face and I get a face full of slobber, but I love it.

Clapping/Waving

On leap day Hallie legit started clapping. She was kind of getting it before that, she would bring her hands together in fists. I would keep opening her hands and bringing them together. Then on leap day, she just clapped. Made the sound and everything. She was so excited.

She has been waving for a couple months, but she is actually doing it front of people (sometimes). She mostly waves at herself. But hey, she's doing it.

We're teaching her to blow kisses. Hopefully she'll be doing that by next month by herself.

Dancing

We watched Coldplay on GMA and she was rocking with me. Bobbing her head, moving her feet back and forth, making little noises. She was totally dancing. It was so awesome. And she has good taste:)

Well that is all that has been happening in our lives the past month. It is truly crazy how much babies grow and change in one years time. One day they can't do something, and the next they can. It's so crazy. I'm loving being a mommy. I think it helps that I have the most awesome baby :)
